Technical specification of wooden windows

Wood

Wooden windows, exterior, and terrace doors are made from eco-friendly, FSC® certified wood. Traditionally, pine, spruce, oak, and larch are chosen, while those who prefer exclusivity opt for exotic woods such as eucalyptus, sipo, meranti, teak, walnut, and accoya.

To ensure the product’s surface is as smooth as possible and the color and pattern are as uniform as possible, only selected, top-quality wood is used: free of knots, cracks, or mechanical damage, and free of resin, rot, heartwood, or sapwood alterations. The wooden windows and doors are made from extremely strong and deformation-resistant (warping, twisting, or longitudinal cracking) glued laminated timber, in 3, 4, or 5 layers. Moisture-resistant yet breathable adhesives are used for laminating the timber.

Aluminum forging

The aluminum cladding reliably protects the wooden frame from harmful environmental effects: UV rays, rain, snow, and dust, so you won’t even need to think about window or door restoration. For decades, they will not need to be repainted, re-lacquered, or otherwise restored. Scratches can be easily removed, for which automotive paints or other products are very suitable, and we can always recommend the right ones for you. Aluminum-clad windows also have better thermal insulation properties, making them ideal for energy-efficient homes.

Decoration

Wooden windows are painted with durable and eco-friendly water-based paints, which come with a warranty of up to 10 years, according to the certification from the paint manufacturer, the German company “Remmers.” These water-based paints dry quickly and are resistant to moisture and ultraviolet rays. They adhere exceptionally well to the wood surface, ensuring they do not crack or peel over time.

For wooden windows, doors, and facade systems, we offer a choice of any color from the RAL color palette and any lacquer shade from the lacquer color palette. The exterior aluminum profile color of aluminum-clad products can also be chosen from the entire RAL or NCS color palette.

Sealing

We guarantee the airtightness of wooden windows by using a triple sealing system (three gaskets). The new type of German gaskets, with a larger contact area, prevent precipitation and wind from penetrating through the joint between the sash and the frame. The gaskets are made of TPE material, which is highly durable and resistant to atmospheric effects and UV rays, and has an operating temperature range from -40 to 180 degrees Celsius. For the most effective energy savings, we recommend a double-chamber glass unit filled with argon gas, which includes two low-emissivity (selective) glass panes with a warm thermal spacer between the panes, available in 14, 16, 18, and 20 mm sizes (U≤0.5 W/m²K).

Glazing

For window glazing, we use only high-quality, energy-saving glass units with a special “Premium 2” selective coating, which retains heat inside the room, significantly improving the thermal insulation properties of the glass unit. By using different types of glass and varying the number of glass sheets, we produce airtight glass units with various properties.

TYPES OF GLASS UNITS:

  • Energy-saving triple-glazed units. A double-chamber glass unit filled with argon gas, featuring two low-emissivity (selective) glass panes and a warm thermal spacer, ensures the most efficient energy savings.
  • Solar control glass units: reflective (mirror) and tinted glass. They protect rooms from excessive sunlight, reducing the possibility of overheating while ensuring sufficient light transmission, just like clear glass.
  • Soundproof glass units.
  • Safety glass units:
    • Laminated glass. A plastic polyvinyl butyral (PVB) film inserted between two or more glass sheets holds the glass shards in place upon impact, preventing them from scattering. Laminated glass is much harder to break than non-laminated glass.
    • Tempered glass. This is a single glass sheet that is 5-10 times stronger and breaks into many small cube-shaped pieces without sharp edges.
  • Fire-resistant glass units. A wire mesh is used to hold the glass shards and prevent the spread of flames, smoke, and toxic gases.
  • Patterned glass.

Furniture

We use German UNI-JET safe and durable opening mechanisms with the option to install locking plates for a higher level of security (up to RC2 resistance class). The opening mechanism installed in BW&Systems products can support a weight load of up to 200 kg. For maximum protection against burglary, we also recommend high-security glass units. Their purpose is not only to protect the premises but also to ensure safety from falling or breaking glass and to prevent the spread of flames in case of a fire.

HANDLES

Standard, modern design handles for wooden windows and doors are made from a very strong zinc-aluminum alloy. Additionally, we can customize the handle style, finish, and color according to your needs, and for extra security, we offer sash locks. All handles have 8 locking positions. Colors: white, brown, matte chrome, nickel satin (champagne), bronze, gold, antique brass, stainless steel, chrome, copper, antique copper.
